Wednesday, July 18, 2001 hardware; software The good news: I've found the scanner I want. The bad news: It's expensive *and* hard to find. It is, if I count the extra film-roll-adapter I'll need, three times what I was planning on spending. However, it's the only scanner that does exactly what I need. [more]
Monday, July 9, 2001 Weekend in the Sun I spent a lovely weekend in the sunshine. Ethan and I took the Miata (okay, Ethan drove and I navigated) with the top down to the Phoenix Festival, which was held this weekend about halfway between Portland and Yakima. The new GPS functioned reasonably well, I shot a couple of rolls of film, saw parts of Washington I've never seen before, and stayed up too late dancing with my friends. [more]
Sunday, July 1, 2001 Last day of June On Saturday, the last day of June, I went to brunch at Adam/Donna/Kirby/Mason/Stefan's house. Donna was hosting a "trunk show" by Paula, a local costume-designer; the house was packed with people and the clothes were lovely. I bought a sparkly-turquoise-outfit (tank top + beaded skirt), a sequined leopard-print tank, and a beaded lace skirt. Very pretty. Most of what Paula had there wasn't anywhere close to my size -- she caters primarily to middle-of-the-road sized women -- but she does custom work, so I'll probably bring her some of My Favorite Clothes to give her an idea of what looks good on me, and ask her to make some shiny/fuzzy/sparkly versions. Late afternoon, Adam showed up at our place with an entourage to make use of the hottub; they ordered pizza and we all soaked & ate & talked. Somehow, we managed to spend nearly four hours at it; they left at nine and I went off to play SimCity. [more]
my weblog I know I suck at keeping in touch with people, and that my loved-ones' desires to know what's going on with me tend to exceed my ability to communicate what I tend to dismiss as "boring" day-to-day details. Those details, when taken in aggregate, tend to be far more interesting than they are singly, I think; there's something about seeing the texture of a life that goes beyond shopping lists. So, I'm setting this weblog up in hopes that it will do better about communicating with friends and family better than I do. :)
