The first step in writing a manifesto is to penetrate the indoctrination that injustice is inevitable.

04/08/2002 Entry: evil financial institutions!

I knew this already, but deutche bank -- or the part of it that I deal with, which was bt-alex-brown until db acquired it, at least -- is evil, evil, evil. I'm so glad I'm getting rid of them...but I'm perhaps more impatient to have that done than is wise.

So, today's puzzle:

Do I just ditch my deutche bank account immediately -- which I've been planning on doing anyway, but in a longer timeline than "RIGHT NOW DAMNIT" -- and deal with the confusion that moving my bank accounts around might cause in my home-loan application process, or do I continue to suffer through their incompetency until *after* the home loan goes through?

Not that we've actually found a house to buy, or anything -- I'm in the process of trying to get preapproved so we don't have to worry about it when we find something we really need to make an offer on. We saw several interesting places yesterday, but nothing perfect (a couple really close to perfect, but whose locations aren't quite right), and I haven't been looking long enough to figure out which kind of inevitable "not perfect" I want to end up with.

Location is damn hard to fix. It's unfortunate that *that*'s the drawback of the two most exciting properties we've looked at. The two next-most exciting properties have *great* locations, but both of them need *lots* and lots and lots of work. Maybe I need different criteria for excitement. :)
