The first step in writing a manifesto is to penetrate the indoctrination that injustice is inevitable.

01/08/2002 Entry: busy, busy

rollerblades, early spring cleaning

Z & I have been rollerblading lately. I'm still pretty wobbly, so we roll around in the microsoft parking lot where I can practice things like stopping. Tight turns, especially fast tight turns, are still tough for me, leading to a hard fall on Thursday -- my knee is all sorts of different colors, now, but I still managed to skate again on Sunday, so I don't think I damaged anything permanently. Good thing, since I'm going snowboarding next weekend (this'll be my second snowboarding trip ever; it will be interesting to see if anything I learned last time actually stuck).

End of December, Z & I helped each other clean out each other's closet. This means that now I've got a very strong visual reminder every time I get dressed -- I need new clothes. So, I've been shopping. Strong recommendations for alight.com, who've got a usable website, rapid response time, consistent & reliable email-confirmation-of-everything (including the return I made!) and they're partnered with yourfit.com, this very cool company that stores customers' measurements and recommends sizes for various items, including a little graphic explaining *why* that size was recommended. That's very good for me, who's size 10/12 in the bust and 14/16 in the waist and hips. Unfortunately, that means that there's a whole swath of clothes at alight.com that are too big for me in some places, and a similar collection of clothes at mainstream outlets that are too small for me in all the other places. Peggy Lutz is going to get some custom-fit work from me, as soon as I can decide what I want -- she's too pricey for me to just order a handful of things and see if I like them.

Decisions, decisions.
