The first step in writing a manifesto is to penetrate the indoctrination that injustice is inevitable.

07/18/2001 Entry: hardware; software

The good news: I've found the scanner I want.

The bad news: It's expensive *and* hard to find. It is, if I count the extra film-roll-adapter I'll need, three times what I was planning on spending. However, it's the only scanner that does exactly what I need.

I'm going to get myself a Nikon SuperCoolScan 4000. Question is, do I wait for Amazon to get it in stock, since they've got by far and away the best price, or do I pay a $200 impatience tax and get it someplace else? And if I get it someplace else, can I trust that they'll actually send it to me quickly? Some of the other vendors claim that they can ship it within a week; others claim for-to-six-weeks.

On the software front, the Diablo II expansion set is *wonderful*.
