These notes are from the Spring 1995 Structural Biology class
given at Berkeley.
Note: These are incomplete and I have no intention of completing them.

Check Amino Acid Composition
- Guanamine Hydrochloride degrades amino acids, but also convers Asn, Gln to Asp, Glu, and Trp, Cys, and Tyr are entirely degraded. However, this method is useful to identify modified amino acids.
- Mass spectrometry can measure the mass of a protein very accurately. It is limited to proteins of 100kD or less due to problems with getting them into the gas phase.
Amino Acid Modifications: Ways to Inactivate Your Favorite Protein
- Denaturation
- Disulfide Bond Chemistry
- Deamidation
- Cleavage
- Asp-pro bonds are very prone to cleavage in acid
- Cofactor Loss
