A Little About Sevoo
Please note: This stuff likely out of date.
The Basics
I live a house with
about ten computers (the numbers change periodically
as I dismantle my machines and rearrange them), two adored housemates
(one of whom is my sweetie,
ethan), and my cat, Ashti.
At the moment, I'm doing software development
at Amazon.com.
My resume is avaliable for your perusal, but don't
expect it to be easy to coax me away; I'm very happy where I am.
I'm a lifetime learner and avid teacher (or at least a compulsive explainer);
I like learning new
things & like teaching them to other people even more. I'm living and loving
life in Seattle, WA.
I received a BA in 1995 from UC Berkeley,
studying English and
biochemistry. I do have more to say about school and education.
Why "Sevoo"? It's a bastardization of a baby-talk
mispronunciation of my real name, foisted upon me by my sister while
I was in high school.
"Sev" works fine, too.

During my free time, I waste most of my time
geeking, although lately I haven't
been breaking my computer and putting it back together as frequently
as I used to. I'm also a definite coffee addict,
a substance which helps me in my role as
system administrator
of byz.org, one of the computers which lives with me.
I'm a tried-and-true Unix
junkie, but I have done a bit of research
on AppleScript and Mac WWW Servers and NT security.

- Learning and educating about alternative sexuality
- Working.
I consider myself very lucky to be able to spend my whole day
geeking.
Take a look at my resume for more info about
what I've done. If I were to create a dream job for myself, it would be
something involving technology and creativity -- kind of like getting paid
to put my poetry and
prose on the web
- I love to cook. Sometimes I shop at HomeGrocer.com, an online grocery
store which delivers in the Seattle (and now Portland, too) area.
They're fabulous -- the prices are similar to those I get in my local
grocery store, and the free delivery means I don't have to lug bags of
flour or kitty litter down the street and up the stairs to my house.
I get recipes from Epicurious, a Condé-Nast vehicle, from Veggies Unite, a wonderful site my mom turned me on to, and from cookbooks, which I frequently buy from
Amazon.com's Cooking, Food, and Wine
category. I've recently discovered
ChefShop.com, a Seattle-based specialty food boutique that promises to ship me all sorts of yummies; while I haven't tried them yet, I plan to.
Finally, FlavourWeb.com is a
bit of an encyclopedia of food.
- Blatant commercialism: I've been told I'm hard to shop for, so I've
created a list of gift ideas
and buried it down here where no one can find it. I figure most people
should be able to look through this website and find something their
creativity can attach to if they want to give me a gift, but for people
who prefer more certainty in their life, I've put together a list.
