The Manitou and Pike's Peak Railway is the second rack railway in the United States, the only using the Abt rack system and is still in operation, mostly using Swiss-made diesel railcars built by the Swiss Locomotive Works in Winterthur. Previously they had a number of GE-built locomotive/passenger car pairs (which still exist as backups) and prior to the 1960s, steam locomotives.
