In Jupiter, Florida at 1am I saw a big flock of baby sea turtles run from sand dunes to an ocean filled with phosphorescent algae that trailed after kicking feet like comets' tails. So warm, the more day than night was full of stars without a moon, as we all flirted and looned naked in the bathwater ocean.
New Jersey: for my cousin David's post-elopement party. Much of the Westreich clan in attendance. Also saw Stacie Renz get married on the home turf, and a bunch of friends there. Spent a lovely afternoon in Central Park with Michael, Nadine, and Chavi; then an evening at XandO with Noelle. All is well, if hectic.
Two days later we sailed a catamaran out to sea, and considered not coming back. It was close, I tell you.
and from florida, where I went to see my maternal grandparents and uncle, and to the wedding of a dear friend from high school, whose best man I was. Florida was stunning and wonderful, especially the wedding, filled with great people none of whom I knew but most of whom I instabonded with. We were staying at the Jupiter Beach Resort, in Jupiter, Florida; right on a beautiful beach itself right on a stunning turquoise ocean, which stayed steady at about 80 Fahrenheit for our whole stay, while the sky was blue all day and a little cloudy at night, keeping us warm both ways; the nights were simply darker days.
Friday night, drinking beer on the beach, we saw a swarm of hundreds of (adorable) baby sea turtles making a run from dune to ocean. Soon after, we followed them, the whole lot of us, many virtual strangers five hours ago, skinny dipping in wonderful water up to our chests, filled with bio-luminescing algae whenever we waved our arms underwater. Florida kicked ass. Did I tell you guys that I saw a flock of baby sea turtles running from dune to ocean at 2 am? It was like a dream in warm seakinddarkness, skinny dipping up to my chest in a pacific Atlantic, full of glowing algae.
