One Woman’s Descent into Freakishness

Once upon a time, there was a girl with a lot of hair.  Long, dark, thick, lions-mane hair.  Naturally curly hair, the envy of many.  She loved her hair, and swore she would never let anyone cut it all off.  One might say she derived security from having all that hair to hide behind.  But one won’t.

One day, a man who would eventually become her husband said, “Hey, if you ever wanted to cut your hair short, it would be OK with me.”  She laughed at him, and marveled at his ability to go from dark to blonde to bald without thinking much of it – and always looking good no matter what he did.

“Hmm,” she thought to herself.  “If he can do that, why can’t I?”

And so…after a few Rusty Nails, she gave her hairdresser permission to chop it off.  She started shrieking as the ponytail came off and continued until he was finished.

“Hmm,” she thought again.  “I am pretty cute even without all that hair!  I wonder what else I can do with this new toy?

And so it began….

And then it was pink, and dark red, and several other shades (sometimes all at the same time).

Finally, after threatening to do so for over a year:

It should be noted that she turned the head-shaving into a charity event at work and raised $1300 for the Avon Breast Cancer walk in the process.  Those wacky Microsofties will do anything for a good cause, especially if it involves getting to use clippers on someone!

Of course, then she realized she had a whole new canvas to work with and realized she had further to go:
