09/17/00 -- Trip to CA
Flights and Fondue
So I went out to visit Jonah this weekend.
I had to. I have no idea when he's coming home. So I hop a
plane from Denver to San Francisco, new camera in hand. Woohoo.
Here I go.
I had one roll of film developed from this
camera, so I've got an idea of how the pictures will turn out as long as I
don't do anything too weird, right? I'm armed with seven rolls of
film, my camera, my little schoolgirl outfit, a book, and a freewriting
notebook and my laptop. I'm prepared for anything. Maybe
everything.
So I land in SF and we make a quick round of
running: hotel (to dump my stuff), Burger King (to tide me over until the
real dinner later at La Fondue), Quova (because for some reason we had to
go -- nice office space ... I took a picture of Steve's lava lamp ... Have
I mentioned I've been going camera-crazy?), then off toward San Jose and
La Fondue.
We got there with plenty of time to spare, but
you never know with Bay Area traffic. So Jonah and Boo and I
wandered around and I took close-up pictures of flowers and some other
goofy "artsy" shots.
Megan arrived and we had fondue. Man, I
missed fondue. The waiter had cool red contacts in. He was
cool. He put up with us. He brought Megan and I more of the
cinnamon-rolled cream cheese balls and more rice krispie balls when we
asked during the chocolate fondue course.
The plan had been to hop into the hot tub when we
got back to the hotel, but dinner lasted long enough that we missed our
window of opportunity. But there's one more chance, at least, before
I have to hop a plane home.
