07/10/00 -- Just another Manic Monday?

The only reason I wish it were Sunday is because it'd make Clarion longer

So we had critiques.  And lunch.  Jennifer and I drove to Taco Bell and made it back five minutes late for the start of Maureen's lecture on, er, well, umm... on upping the bar.  What it takes to push our writing to the next level (entirely in her opinion! *grin*).  It was fascinating.  I've got pages and pages of notes.  I just hope my brain retains a lot of it because I'm terrible about looking at notes and making sense of them weeks (or months ... or years!) later.

After that, er, umm, I dunno what happened.  Everything is so strange and fragmented and sometimes run together and sometimes not.

I know I didn't go anywhere for dinner.  I know I grabbed beef jerky and a Diet Dr. Pepper and my laptop and went into Van Hoosen to finish (theoretically) "Hypothetical Beaches" before the 24-hour moratorium started.

I think Jennifer and I went on a fire-fly walk.  I'm not going to go all nostalgic and sentimental about the fireflies again.

I read the rest of the stories for tomorrow and critted them.

I edited my story.

I went to bed.

If anything more than that happened, I'll update you later because I just can't think of what it might've been.

Oh, did I mention that Maureen and Greg totally rock?  Well, they do.  They totally rock.  And I think these next two weeks are going to push us hard.  Push us to do what we really want to do, to push our writing up a notch, push our stories to the next level.

Okay, so other folks are talking about their productivity here.  I decided I may as well, too.
This list (and my productivity) is subject to change without notice. :)

Title

Finished
Critiqued?
"Where the Blood Roses Grow"
Week one, first story.  Wahoo.  And I was worried that something wouldn't come.

"Uprooting the Tree"
Will probably change the title at some point.
3400 6/16 6/19
"Mockingbird Girl"
I think I'm happiest with this story, so far.
2800 6/19 6/26
"Poor as Paupers, Rich as Royalty"
My challenge story from Sean's week.  I hated writing it.  It gave me a toothache.
2000

That fucking first person narrative (not yet complete) - May never be completed.  Don't I feel like an idiot... (400)
"Switched to Overload"  (That other fucking first person narrative)
Actually, I like this one better than the one above it ...  Even if it did wind up being two first person narratives in one story.  o.O
4900 6/27 7/3
"Sweeter Than Honey, Stronger Than Wine"  (My Tananrive Due challenge story.  Write a story in the style of an author whose work you admire.  Aieee!  It was sort of supposed to be in the style of Tanith Lee.  I'm not sure I hit that.  But it's definitely got a Christina Rossetti influence.) 9200 7/2 7/11
"Hypothetical Beaches"
I really hope it turns out to be not quite as stupid as I feel like it is.  Finished it just before Maureen and Greg's 24-hour moratorium on writing.
