04/30/00 -- So much for April
Where did the time go?
April's been a pretty slim month as far as this journal goes.
I seemed to have lost track of time. I guess most of it went into work and
into maintaining the ce2k pages (go check them out)...
Oh, and into starting and finishing a story.
Yep, I finally finished a story. I thought it was going to
be something close to 5,000 words. I guess 12,000 is close to 5,000 ... for some
definition of close.
I've got a handful of story starts that I still need to do
something with. Maybe finish them. Or maybe I'll just hold onto them and bring
them with me to Clarion. I don't know.
A handful of the folks going to Clarion East are worried about
being able to turn out a story a week. They're worried about running out of ideas.
I'm not worried about ideas. I can find ideas. I'm
worried about turning them into a decent story (or even a finished story that isn't
decent). That seems to have been my biggest challenge lately. I've started
things. I've got ideas for other things. And other than the story I finished
last week (and my writer's duet and a micro story on the Rumormill), I haven't finished
anything I've started this year.
I'm sure I've whined about this before, so I'll stop now.
And maybe I'll be more talkative in May.
