03/12/00 -- The Great Monitor Hunt

Goin' on a monitor hunt
Gonna catch a mean one!
I'm not afraid!

I should've been afraid.

The plan had been to catch a mean one.  A mean deal on a 17-inch monitor for my new Windows machine.  Boo and I left the house early and fortified ourselves with IHOP (much to our dismay, we discovered that the yummy cinnamon roll french toast meals aren't available on weekends *grump*), then killed a little time looking around Michael's (a craft store) waiting for Circuit City to open.  It should've been quick.  It should've been easy.  It should've been our only stop on this hunt.

It wasn't quick.  It wasn't easy.  And it was the first of many stops on The Great Monitor Hunt.

The hunt sucked turkey butt.  So did most of the rest of our shopping.  We wanted to get laminating stuff that actually has an adhesive on the back so you can make laminated stickers.  No such luck.  Nobody had it.   Nobody had 17 inch monitors for under $300, either.

Well, Office Depot finally did, but it was our last stop after driving around Westminster, then driving back home, then driving into Boulder.

My portable CD player hunt was slightly more successful.  I bought a cool hand-held CD dealie because I was an idiot and put the monitor on my bank card instead of on my credit card as I had been planning to do. :P

Oh, well, I suppose it all worked out in the end!

I caught a monitor.  I caught a CD player.  And I'm ready to start packing for Clarion!  Sorta. :)
